    Employers increasingly rely on their temporary workforce as a way to reduce expenses and limit exposure to liability. What some employers do not take into account, though, are the hidden potential liabilities of using a temporary workforce. We will discuss those potential liabilities and suggest steps for reducing employers’ exposure from using a temporary workforce.

    Katherine L. Goyert

    Kate Goyert is a member of the Labor and Employment Relations Group, focusing on employment counseling and litigation. Kate’s practice includes defending employers in federal, state and administrative litigation. Her representative experience includes issues related to: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employee leave, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, employee handbooks and policies and severance and separation agreements.

    During law school, Kate received the CALI Award of Excellence (denoting highest grade) in the following courses: Employment Discrimination, Privacy in Employment Law, Legal Writing I, Evidence and Legislation: Process and Interpretation. Kate served as a Notes & Comments Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and a member of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society. As a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, Kate represented Chicago-Kent College of Law in the 2011 Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Moot Court Competition and the 2011 International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology & Privacy Law.

    Honors and Recognitions

    Kate was recognized on the “Illinois Rising Stars” list in 2014 and 2015 bySuper Lawyers magazine in the area of employment and labor law.

    Sarah E. Flotte

    Sarah Flotte is an attorney in the firm’s Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group focusing on employment counseling and litigation. Sarah’s practice includes defending employers in state and federal litigation, as well as before administrative agencies. Her representative experience includes issues related to: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employee leave, reductions-in-force, employee handbooks and policies, affirmative action, breach of contract, defamation, and covenants not to compete.

    Honors and Recognitions

    Sarah is included in the “Top Women Attorneys in Illinois” list in 2013. She also has been selected to the 2012 -2015 “Illinois Rising Stars” list in the area of Employment and Labor by Super Lawyers magazine.

    During law school, Sarah received the CALI Awards of Excellence (denoting highest grade) in the following courses: Employment Discrimination Law, Trial Advocacy, Pre-Trial Civil Litigation, and Legal Writing III. She also received Dean’s List honors and served as the Vice President of the DePaul University College of Law Appellate Moot Court Society. As a member of the Appellate Moot Court Society, Sarah represented DePaul University College of Law in the 2007 National First Amendment Moot Court Competition and the 2008 William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition.
