    The key steps that employers take once they receive an employee complaint can be critical to evaluating and avoiding liability.  In this interactive briefing, we will discuss best practices for responding to complaints to assess and help avoid the risk of substantial exposure.  In particular, we will focus on complaints of sexual harassment and how to handle complicated “he said-she said” scenarios.

     

    Biographies:   

    A partner in Michael Best’s Labor and Employment Relations Group, Daniel Kaufman has successfully litigated numerous employment and other cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts and before administrative agencies for over 25 years.  Mr. Kaufman also has counseled clients and conducted workshops on myriad employment issues including:  retaliation; discrimination; harassment; non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements; medical and disability leaves; supervising, disciplining and terminating employees; wage and hour claims; employment issues in transactions; and avoiding litigation.  He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Illinois Super Lawyers.

    Kate Goyert is a member of Michael Best’s Labor and Employment Relations Group, focusing on employment counseling and litigation. Ms. Goyert’s practice includes defending employers in state and federal litigation, as well as before administrative agencies.
