    Legal Update - New Laws, Court Cases and Legal Issues Impacting Employers

    While we have all been consumed with Covid-19 over the past few months, there are still a number of laws and issues that Employers need to be aware of including the following:

    • Recent Supreme Court Decision
    • Recent  DOL Advisory Opinions and DOL Final Rule on Exempt Employees
    • IHRA changes and Sexual Harassment Training Requirements
    • Illinois Minimum Wage increase
    • Chicago Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave increase and expanded coverage
    • Expense Reimbursement in the age of Remote Working

    Additionally, there are a number of issues that employers are facing when re-opening under the Restore IL Phases. For example, how to respond to a positive test, OSHA obligations and Workers’ Compensation liability under Illinois HB 2455, which creates a rebuttable presumption that a worker contracted Covid-19 while working, if working for an essential business.
