One of the key competencies for HR Professionals is the ability to resolve and/or mediate conflicts in a respectful, appropriate and impartial manner. Understanding conflict and the different methods of resolving it, is an important part of your professional HR skillset.  Note: For those studying for the SHRM CP or SCP exams, Conflict Management is in the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (BASK) under the Interpersonal Cluster on page 31.

The session will focus on the theory behind the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) which is a conflict style inventory. The TKI is a validated tool developed to measure an individual's response to conflict situations. TKI describes five modes of interacting with others including competing, collaboration, comprising, avoiding and accommodating.

This session will focus on how to use the different modes to solve work-related conflict situations. Using a variety of scenarios and breakout groups, this session will help participants gain keen insights into conflict management and resolution.
