    Summary Description – As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into HR practices, ethical considerations must be at the forefront of its implementation. This session will explore the responsible use of AI in HR, focusing on ethical practices and strategies for leveraging AI tools effectively. Participants will learn about the potential benefits and challenges of AI in HR, the importance of minimizing bias, and how to create a culture of ethical AI use. By understanding these principles, HR leaders can navigate the complexities of AI adoption while maintaining fairness and transparency.

    Katie Dykstra is the Client Engagement Director of HR Consulting services at Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA). Katie has more than 20 years of experience in strategic human resources. She is known for her expertise, innovation, and operational leadership. Throughout her career, she has consistently achieved success in enhancing the performance of human resources departments. She works closely with insurance brokers and clients to meet their HR consulting needs. She plays a key role in closing leads and educating both insurance brokers and clients on the comprehensive range of HR consulting services that are offered. She is often invited to speak at HR conferences where she shares her valuable insights and expertise.

    Prior to MMA, Katie owned her own HR consulting and executive coaching business where she worked with companies who needed strategic guidance and support in their human resources functions and leadership development.

    Katie received her master’s degree in human resources management from Roosevelt University and a designation in executive coaching. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Valparaiso University teaching HR master courses. Katie is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE®). She volunteers her time as the Director at Large for Illinois State SHRM Council. Katie holds her AI + HI certification through SHRM.
