Far from the cumbersome and even loathed events they’re perceived to be, performance processes are actually powerful tools for enacting change — if we know how to use them.
Unfortunately, many organizations have focused too much on the results and have lost sight of what’s most important: the people. The good news is, it can be fixed. New technologies are emerging that transform performance from an evaluative to a performance development for the entire organization. It’s time to drop the one-off, one-way annual evaluations and adopt ongoing, growth-oriented conversations and recommendations that spur personal development and ignite performance. The transformation begins with HR, Managers and future leaders. As managers, our number one priority is to motivate and coach our people to higher performance — to help them discover, unlock, and fulfil their potential.
