Legal Update - New Laws, Court Cases and Legal Issues Impacting Employers
While we have all been consumed with Covid-19 over the past few months, there are still a number of laws and issues that Employers need to be aware of including the following:
- Recent Supreme Court Decision
 - Recent DOL Advisory Opinions and DOL Final Rule on Exempt Employees
 - IHRA changes and Sexual Harassment Training Requirements
 - Illinois Minimum Wage increase
 - Chicago Minimum Wage and Paid Sick Leave increase and expanded coverage
 - Expense Reimbursement in the age of Remote Working

Additionally, there are a number of issues that employers are facing when re-opening under the Restore IL Phases. For example, how to respond to a positive test, OSHA obligations and Workers’ Compensation liability under Illinois HB 2455, which creates a rebuttable presumption that a worker contracted Covid-19 while working, if working for an essential business.
Join Mike Wong, a partner with the law firm SmithAmundsen, for a legal update that employers are currently facing.
